  1. A mocking bird is a long-tailed grey-and-white songbird of the southern United States that mimics songs of other birds. I think people would want to kill this beautiful bird because they are cruel and full of hatred. I can't think of anyone wanting to kill such a peaceful bird. I think it means somewhat like the meaning of the acutal mockingbird. In the book probably someone is trying to put someone down, much the same as killing, for the wrong reasons or for something that isnt even harmful, relating to the mockingbird.

  2. Um...a mockingbird is a pretty songbird. I don't know why people would want to kill them because they are very pretty and beautiful(and they sing!). Maybe the author chose this title because someone in the story wants to kill or harm someone who is innocent and pure...just like a mockingbird.

  3. A mockingbird is a really unique bird that sings and can sing like other birds. I think that Harper Lee titled the novel like that so that the bird symbolizes a innocent person who is blamed for something the person didnt do and is trying to get killed becaause of the blame, even though the person is innocent.

  4. A mockingbird is a bird that sings very unique and is rather calm. I also believe that this bird symbolizes an innocent person who will be blamed for something they definetly didn't do. One more unique charrachteristic of this bird, it is a sin to kill.

  5. Well I read the defintion of a mocking bird, and I found out that its a song bird that mimics, or mocks, other birds' songs. Why would you want to kill a mockingbird? Maybe becuase you're annoyed. I'm honestly not sure what a mockingbird has to the with the story. If I had to guess, I'd say that someone mimiced someone else. I'm sure thats not right though.

  6. a mockingbird is a songbird, a very beautiful bird at that. i think the title means that is horrendous to even think of killing something so pure, so innocent. the same as colored people... why think of doing something so horrible to someone just because of their skin color. it's dumb and it's insulting.

  7. A mockingbird is a beautiful song bird. The only reason I think a person would kill a mocking bird is because they don't like that type of bird. I don't understand why someone would want to kill such a beautiful bird. I think a mockingbird has to do with the story is that maybe someone beautiful is going to be harmed in some way.

  8. The mockingbird is, in my opinion, a beautiful bird that can copy the songs of many other birds including insects or even machines at times. Why someone would harm such a beautiful bird is beyond me, though I think it might have to do with racism. Or later on in the story the narrator sees a Mockingbird and it becomes a symbol for something revealed, appearing or being referenced time and time again and will be destroyed/killed, such as the conch in "Lord of the Flies".

  9. A mockingbird is a gray and white songbird of the southern United States, it mimics other birds songs. I don't know why someone would one to kill this bird unless they stranded on an island and are about to die of starvation, or they have lots of hate in them. I think the title means that someone is going to get in trouble for something they never did.

  10. A mockingbird is a species of bird found mostly in the United States which is known for its song and abilities to mimic those of other birds. I think that the only reason anyone would want to kill one, is simply for the twisted pleasure they'd recieve from watching something innocent die. I think maybe the author chose this title to represent how innocent things or people are victimized by people who are unfair or just cruel. This world's all weird. So yeah, bye. ♥

  11. A mockingbird is a pretty grey and white song bird. Someone might want to kill it because they maybe annoyed or they simply want to be cruel. I think the author chose this title as a comparison. She could be comparing the man to the mockingbird. How innocent cratures can be killed or toutured for no good reason.

  12. A mockingbird is a wonderful bird that sings pretty and mimics other birds.I think a person would kill them because they feel alot of hatred in them and they take it out on the mockingbird.I think that the author chooses this name to show that somone wonderful may get hurt or ven killed.

  14. A mockingbird is a bird that copies other birds songs. The only way I think someone would want to kill a bird is if the sing a really annoying song. I belive the author chose this title because mocking is similiar to the word framed. Somebody will get framed.

  15. A mockingbird is a well known bird. They are know to mimick other species. Why would anyone one want to kill a mockingbird? I don't know how any human body could do that.It would be like killing them for no explicit reason. Which brings me to the title. I think it is called To Kill a Mockingbird because maybe a character is getting excluded from the paramount story with false accusations.

  16. A mockingbird is a bird that has long elegant feathers that are black and gray, it has the abilities to mimic other bird chimes and songs. The only reason i could think of anyone killing a mockingbird would be because maybe it has annoyed it or something along those lines. I believe the author chose this title of the story to foreshadow what may happen in the story. Maybe a charecter in the story will mock another character, making that charecter mad and to seek revenge and frame on the person who mocked them.

  17. A mockingbird is a beautiful song bird that mimics the songs or chants of other birds. I really don't know why someone would want to kill a mockingbird. Maybe someone out of their right mind wanting to watch an innocent die would want to. I'm making a prediction that in the novel someone wants an innocent person that has done no harm in any way to be put to death.

  18. Mockingbirds are birds that mimic the sounds made by other birds, they also are the state bird of Texas and are very beautiful.I can't imagine why anyone would want to harm an animal for no reason, and yet some still do. Hearing what I've heard before reading this novel, i think it will be about a person who is being accused of a crime and will be punished for no reason.

  19. A mockingbird is a very cool bird. It can copy the noise of birds, insects , and anphibians. It is a very beutiful bird. I would never want to kill it, but if someone did maybe they would be jelouse of the mocking bird becouse of its talent.i think some one in the stoy dosnt like another guy becouse there different and wants to kill them.

  20. A mocking bird is a beautiful gray and white song bird. Known to copy songs of other birds and it is also symbolizes innocents to others. people would wanna kill this bird because its beauty. So im guessing that people would accuse this blackman of rape to take away all he has.(Beauty of the bird)

  21. A mockingbird can imitate the sounds of other creatures. If a person had a reason to kill this bird it would be of jealousy or dislike. I think the title portrays what another person is feeling against the African-american in the book. That he's just being accused beacause they dislike his race. No offence.

  22. A mocking bird is a unique bird that has special abilities to mimic the chirps of other birds, insects, and even sounds made by humans. Someone may try to kill the bird probably because they are jealous of it unique abilities, which in my opinion is unjust. I predict in the book a person may be envious of another person because of his/hers distinctive talents.

  23. A mockingbird is a pretty gray and white song bird. A bird known to make the world more pleasant, and symbolizes innocents to others. People probably kill them to enjoys seeing something so beautiful die. I'm guessing the author uses a mockingbird to say that the two man were peaceful people who never did any harm. But others wanted to kill them for assuming they did wrong.

  24. A mockingbird is a beautiful white and grey bird that can mimic the chirps of other birds. I think someone would want to kill this bird to be cruel, evil and/or to simply get the satisfaction of watching something innocent die. The author probably chose this title because someone in the story wants to kill, or do wrong, to someone that is innocent like the mockingbird.

  25. A mockingbird is a beautiful bird found mostly in the United states that is known for its beautiful singing and its ability to mimic the the songs of other birds. the bird is nothing but innocence and beauty, and there really isn't any reason for which someone would like to kill it other than the fact that they have a mind that is twisted with hatred. The mockingbird probably signifies someone innocent in the book, and how there is no reason why that person should be killed or hurt, but some twisted mind and person wants to do so anyways.

  26. A mockingbird is a bird found mostly which is known for its song and abilities to mimic other birds. Some one might want to kill this bird because they think they're annoying, but really the sounds are beautiful. I think the book is titles "To Kill A Mockingbird" because people are sometimes misunderstood or mistaken by someone else just like a mockingbird who may be mistaken by another bird.

  27. A mockingbird is a beautiful bird with the ability to sing and mimic songs of other birds and cannot defend itself against others. I think that using a mockingbird in the title represents a defensless person being persecuted or being wished harm over by someone who is just plain evil and knows that the other has no chance against them.

  28. Mockingbirds are species of birds that have the ability to mimic songs of other birds. Someone might want to kill this bird because they find it annoying. I really don't know what the title has to do with mockingbirds and of what I read so far in the book it doesn't really make sense why she titled this book 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. But maybe the title means that what she went through as a child, mimics the story in her book.

  29. A mockingbird is a bird that mimics what people or other birds say. I don't see why anyone would want to kill a mockingbird because that is just downright cruel. There has to be something wrong with anyone who even attempts to harm a mockingbird. According to some old stories about mockingbirds, it is a very big sin if you kill one, so, I think that maybe someone commits a very bad sin in the story.

  30. A mockingbird is a beautiful song bird that mimics the songs or chants of other birds. Monkingbirds are pure innocent creatures and i cant think of why anyone would want to hurt them. Maybe Harper Lee named the book what it is because somewhere in the book an innocent person gets hurt. Its a story about her life so the person or thing must have meant a lot to her.

  31. A mocking bird is an amazing songbird that mimics or mocks other birds and thats how it received its name, now world people would kill them only to steal their beauty. I believe this relates to the story in a sense that the black guy is the bird and they accused him of rape to take all he had and thats the birds beauty

  32. A moking bird is a bird who mimic other birds singing. I don't know why would someone want to kill this innocent bird but i think it has to do with the time period. Maybe it was a popular bird and maybe it represents evil or race.

  33. A mocking bird is a bird that sings and mimicks the songs of other birds. My guess is that someone would want to see somthing so amazing, and innocent, die. The title might represent killing something so beautiful and innocent? That would be my prediction.

  34. A mochingbird is a black and white songbird who can mimic the songs of other birds. I think someone would want to kill a mockingbird because its flat out annoying. i think its bad enough listening to one song all night is terrible know imagine one bird with multiple songs i think that would give someone a reason to kill one.

  35. The Mockingbird is the Texas state bird. It is a singing bird who mimics the songs of other birds. It has a long tail with light grey and white feathers. Someone might want to kill this bird beacuse it may have become too annoying, or maybe to see what happens to the bird. Birds are usually just innocent creatures, so it would be a shame for one to be killed. This concept may be compared to the novel because a man is being accused for something even though he is as innocent as a mockingbird.

  36. A mockingbird is a songbird that is gray and white and mimics other birds. Which is why its called the mockingbird. I don't understand why anyone would want to kill a nice little bird, but maybe someone would want to kill it because its misunderstood because of how it copies. I think it probably represents a person in the book.

  38. The mocking bird is well known as a beautiful song bird. Why anyone would have the desire to kill one of these creatures is out my of state of thought. Would it be for money, or simple pleasure? This should be taken into thought as a comparison. Maybe a man is running to escape from a problem but has the same potential as a mockingbird, only flying away, and moving to aomewhere safer than the punishment of its cage or even death. Maybe the mocking bird was stealing food or berries from a tree? Was its songs no longer appreciated? I don't know what is to come, but maybe the mockingbird was just a victum of some confusion with another bird (or in the case of comparison, another human). My questions will hopefully be answered in the next chapters!!!

  39. Mockingbirds are songbirds that have long tails and have light gray and white feathers. Mockingbirds mimic the songs of other birds. They are pretty birds and are probably very harmless. Someone might want to kill them just to be cruel. It could relate to the book because people want to be cruel to another character in the story.

  40. The Northern Mockingbird the most well known representative of this family is known scientifically as Mimus polyglottos, which comes from the Greek “mimus” to mimic, and “ployglottos” for many tongued. The song of the mockingbird is actually a medley of the calls of many other birds. A given bird may have 30, 40 or even 200 songs in its life. I really dont understand the book to good yet its quiet puzzling for me. To me at the moment the mockingbird signifies hope, justice, and freedom. I dont know whats to come but hopefully my questions will be answered.

  41. A mockingbird is a type of bird that mimicks the songs and noises of many other birds in its region. They are mostly small in size and very beautiful birds.Only a person without a concious, or an evil doer would harm such a bird. I think that further into the story maybe the white people mock the black person accuesed of being a rapists for his color and having no hope of winning the case against an all white jury.

  42. A mockingbird is a bird of the thrasher family, some of which incorporate the songs and calls of other birds into their own songs. I don't really know why someone would want to kill a mockingbird. A mockingbird is a peaceful animal.

  43. A mockingbird is a bird, obviously, that got its name because it "mocks" other animals by mimicking their noises. They'd copy others birds songs and sounds of insects and amphibians. I really don't see why anyone would want to kill one, unless, of course, you're a taxidermist. I think the title signifies how something can mock you and you find it a nuisance, thus killing it as a result. Maybe this signifies that someone is going annoy somebody else and then they are going to kill them. That's what I honestly think

    ReplyDelete
  44. a mocking bird is a song bird that mocks other bird. i don't know why somebody would want kill this bird. i belive that the bird represents the black man on trial, and the "to kill" part is the jury. and since they don't like him they are going to "kill a mocking bird"

  45. well one reason a person might want to kill a mockingbird is because everyone usually shoots birds with a BB gun just for fun. Also the significance of the title is it might have to do with someone might kill somebody else. A mockingbird is a gray or brown bird that sings songs or other birds.

  47. A mockingbird is an animal that does exactly what the name suggests, it mocks the songs of birds, the different sounds of insects, even machinery. Someonie who would want to kill this bird probably had some sort of tramatic experiance as a child pertaining to this bird. I think that the mockingbird's symbolic meaning is that someone is probably going to be mimicking someone else and that one person is going to get mad then whoe know's a gun here a gun there and there's the story.

  48. The mocking bird is a gray bird that can be up to 9 inches long and has evolved the ability to mimic other birds or animals. This bird has no natural defenses which makes it vulnerable against predators. I would try to kill this bird because it might sing in the morning and won’t let me go back to sleep. I think that the author named the novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” because there is no reason to kill a mockingbird unless you had an outrageous amount of hatred for them.

    ReplyDelete
  49. A mocking bird is a song bird that mimics other birds, why someone would want to kill it? I have no idea! I think the title means that killing a mocking bird isn't fair to it, just like it isn't fair to accuse a black guy of rape just because he's black. I don't know it night mean something like that.

  50. A mockingbird is a long-tailed grey and white songbird of the southern United States that is able to mimic songs of other birds. Maybe someone would want to kill a mockingbird because they really hate them or the mockingbirds annoy them. I think that the title signifies that it is as bad as killing a mockingbird.

  51. A mocking is a bird that has the ability to mimick sounds of other birds, that is why this bird is special. If someone wants to kill a mocking bird it may be because it can mimick what someone has said. It may be a dark secert or a confession. So since someone does not whant anyone to hear it repeated that is why they would want to kill it.

  52. A mockingbird is a calm, unique bird that mimics other birds. In my opinion, it's the most interesting bird, with it's magnificent and beautiful song. I don't understand why someone would want to kill such an amazing bird. Harper Lee probably entitled this novel, To Kill a Mockingbird to symbolize something that's going to happen later in the novel. I'm assuming it would be related to an innocent black man accused of a rape and sentenced to death.

    ReplyDelete
  53. A mockingbird, is a beautiful bird that is calm and sings uniquely. It’s not right for someone to kill a mockingbird, because it is a bird of beauty. The author in my opinion maybe named this book to kill a mockingbird, because something in the story may be related to a death or some other devastating thing that someone does.

  56. A mockingbird is a bird that is a true and bueatiful bird in our world. although it may annoy many people by mimicking sounds that people might dislike. I think the title significance is that a person can have so much hatred and annoyance to another human being that they would go to the extent to hurt it.

  57. Mocking bird is a very interestin animal that has the ability to do alot of stuff and has alot of ways to do things in his environment. I really think that the title means like if something got borught down or something bad happen. The title gives clues but i wana get to read the book aleready.

  58. A mockingbird is exactly what it is called. it is known to mimick (a.k.a mocking) sounds of other species. the story is called to kill a mocking bird because it is comparing the bird to the person going on trial which is innocent as well as the mockingbird, it is an innocent creature which people often kill.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The Mockingbird is a bird known to mimic, simple as that. I think the story is titled To Kill A Mockingbird, because somewhere in the story, it will probably use it as a metaphor, or something to get the lesson of the story across. If someone wanted to kill it, chances are, it would be for some sick enjoyment that person would have. :)
